Hockey Lingo Takes Center Ice in Archipelago’s SportChek Ad Campaign starring Kevin Bieksa

Starring Canadian hockey icon Kevin Bieksa and directed by Nicholas Ewart, this campaign blended hockey language and culture in a way that felt truly Canadian. Each spot paired everyday phrases with sharp hockey lingo, celebrating the game’s place in Canadian identity. Across the series, Kevin was joined by a rotating lineup of hockey greats including Dylan Strome and Daryl Watts, alongside hockey-focused creators Zac Bell and Coach Chippy, blending star power with social fandom.

Outfitted in elite gear from Bauer and CCM, the talent took the concept from the ice to the kitchen, creating playful, unexpected moments that brought the wordplay to life. Shot over the course of a single, high-energy production day, Archipelago delivered full end-to-end services across all four ads, including location sourcing, production design for eight distinct sets, and the creation of multiple cutdowns for each video, ensuring optimal performance across every social platform.

At the heart of this campaign was a strategic focus on content built specifically for its audience. When brands invest in creative that speaks directly to their audience through familiar language, cultural touchpoints, and trusted voices, they don’t just capture attention, they build connection. Curated content drives stronger engagement, improves retention, and makes campaigns feel less like advertising and more like conversation. In today’s crowded digital landscape, relevance isn’t optional - it’s the advantage.

This project proves what’s possible when strong storytelling, thoughtful production, and an audience-first strategy come together, transforming a series of short ads into a memorable cultural moment.
